Vacation on the East Coast of Jeju
Goodbye to one side of Jeju, hello to the east coast. I took a bus for about an hour and a half to Seongsan Ilchulbong bus stop.
I checked into the Sunflower guesthouse around 12:30. The owner was super nice and let us check in early. He was very accommodating and made sure we felt comfortable with the facilities.
After checking in and dropping off our luggage, we ate lunch at a restaurant close to our guesthouse. I chose sea urchin seaweed soup and Lily got bibimbap.
I took a bus for almost an hour to Hamdeok Beach. The beach was not as busy as Hyeopjae Beach. Lily had a Starbucks giftcard so we got the limited Jeju mugwort frappe. It was delicious. We walked along the beach and side of the hill with our drinks. Some people were snorkeling, surfing and just enjoying the water.
We planned on going to Woljeongni Beach, but it started raining quite heavily. So, we went back to Bong Cafe next to our guesthouse to just chill. We ordered peach iced tea and a croffle. The cafe was so nice and nobody was there.
We went across the street to Vibe230 for dinner. We ordered Jeju black pork tonkatsu sando and basil pasta. It was super delicious. After eating we turned in for the night.
When we got back, the owner met us and was concerned about us using the girls bathroom since it was across the hall from where some male guests were staying. Our room was right in front of the male restroom so he had us switch bathrooms so that we wouldn’t feel uncomfortable running into the male guests.
On Friday, we woke up and it was pouring rain. So instead of going to a beach we decided to hike up Seongsan Ilchulbong.
It was raining and so windy that our umbrellas were ineffective. We went and bought plastic raincoats at CU. We paid the entrance fee and hiked up to the top. It was very windy and rainy but quite fun. It was a quick hike, we were down at the bottom in less than an hour.
Thankfully the day was fairly warm, so we weren’t soaking and freezing. We went to Suma Cafe to dry off and just relax. The drinks we got were sweetened condensed milk cookie latte and chocolate latte. They were delicious.
I initially planned to go kayaking. We had booked a kayak at Hado Beach through Trazy but because of the stormy weather we canceled our booking.
For lunch, we ate at Sian Restuarant. I ordered fish and chips and Lily ordered tonkatsu.
To help us digest, we walked along the road and admired the blue waves and view of Seongsan Ilchulbong. It was quite windy but it’s been the coolest day so far.
We stopped and took a break inside Cafe The Light just as the rain started up again. I got a Hallabong ade and Lily got peach white tea. The cafe was playing some emotional ballads that fit perfectly with the rainy weather view from the cafe.
I sat at the cafe for quite a while, so I wanted to walk around after. I walked around almost the whole port area. It was rainy but still quite fun. I got to see some neighborhood areas and also the place where I had stayed previously.
In the morning, I woke up at 6 am, got ready, checked out, took the bus for two hours and arrived at the airport. I took a 11:00 AM flight with T-Way Air to Busan.
Hope you enjoyed my Jeju travels as much as I did, stay along and read about my adventures in Busan!
