A Day in Gangneung

I admit that I was terrible at taking photos this time… or at least they don’t seem to be in my photos library (maybe they’re on my external hard drive), but I don’t have any photos from this trip.

My friend and I wanted to do a trip to Gangneung, Gangwon-do to get away from our cities for the weekend. We decided to go to Gangneung because it is one of our favorite beaches. The waves there always look fantastic.

We took the KTX from Seoul to Gangneung, which takes a few hours. I mostly slept during that time. Once we arrived, we took a short taxi ride to Anmok Beach. We bought some soy milk and headed out onto the beach. I was mesmerized with watching the crystal blue waves crash on to the sand. I almost got wet because I miscalculated how far in the waves would come, but managed to scamper away just in time. It was the perfect time to be there because there were hardly any people there… the downside was that it was a bit chilly.

I stopped for a quick bite to eat and ordered some seafood kalguksu. Shortly after, we entered AM Cafe which had some scrumptious pastries and delicious beverages. After warming up a bit, we headed back out onto the beach and strolled around. When we were chilled to the bone, we hurried inside Cafe America for another drink. This cafe was several floors and had a breathtaking view of the oceanside.

Time was quickly passing by, and we had to be back in Seoul at a decent hour. So, we packed up and took the KTX back into Seoul. It was a nice, rejuvenating adventure to get my energy back up.
