A Weekend Trip to Yeosu

My friend invited me to go on a trip with her to Yeosu, and of course, I said yes. We left Seoul after work and boarded the KTX in Yongsan. It was a LONG three hours. When we arrived in Yeosu, there were no taxis in sight. We tried calling one on KakaoTaxi, but nobody accepted. So, we stood in line at the taxi stand with the many other people waiting. However, we saw someone get picked up by a taxi, so we tried again but with the address in Korea. Someone accepted immediately and we were on our way to Ocean Hill Hotel.

The hotel was amazing. The staff was super kind and helpful. Our room was better than our apartments. It had a beautiful view of the port area, and it had a balcony! After dropping our belongings off, we headed over to the CU across from our hotel. We had a convenience store dinner of ramen and snacks. After the meal we walked around a bit to explore the area.

The next morning, we walked a bit to a cafe called And Roy. We ordered some brunch and it was delicious. It was less expensive than the brunch places in Seoul but just as delicious. It was also dog-friendly, so there were several dogs in the cafe.

We took a taxi to Yeosu Artland where we walked around the area, got a drink at the cafe, and then bought a ticket to see the hand at the top of the hill. We had to take a waiting ticket, but thankfully there weren’t many people in front of us. The weather was sunny and quite hot.

We went the short distance to the cafe Moipin. It sits on the edge of a hill that overlooks a beach. It is really really pretty. The cafe is huge. It has a rooftop area, two floors, and then a huge underground area for only adults. From the outside the size seems decent, but inside it’s huge.

We were tired, so we went back to the hotel to rest a bit before heading back out. Down the road we had seen the hotel that offers ziplining. So, we decided to give it a go. We took the elevator up to the 24th floor, signed up, got geared up, and then took the zipline across the water. It was super fun but really short. It was also only 35,000 won (approx. $35).

The sun was starting to set so we took the bus over to Dolsan Park to catch the sunset at the bridge and port area. It was absolutely magnificent. I have no words to describe the colors and views. The photos I have don’t do it justice. The only downside was being eaten by the mosquitoes.

For dinner, we walked below the bridge and went to a 횟집 (fish restaurant). The restaurant had a super cute puppy there that was very friendly. We ordered raw fish over rice. It was delicious after all the activities that we had done for the day.

That evening, we sat on the deck, played old hits, talked, and just enjoyed the view. It is a time that I won’t forget. I think we ended up going to bed kinda late, but that’s vacation for you.

The next day, was already our last day in Yeosu. We checked out of our hotel and went across the street to Stay Cafe. They have a glass walkway there and it is a really spacious place. Also, here are some photos from our hotel room from the day and night.

We took the bus over to the area of Yeosu I had visited previously. It has a lot of cafes there. We went to Eggdrop to get some lunch before going to Nangman Cafe. On the way there, there was a small shop that had lots of stationery and other cute things. The drinks at Nangman Cafe were very Insta-worthy. It is a well-known cafe among tourists.

Lastly, we went through the alleys to Bimi Cafe. It was probably my favorite cafe this whole trip. It was on the smaller side, had amazing drinks and desserts, and the music was popping.

Finally, we took a bus back to Yeosu Station and boarded our KTX train back to Seoul. Honestly, this mini-vacation was just what I needed. It was good to get out of Seoul, explore some new spots, and hang out with a friend.
