Gangneung Day Trip
This was our last trip out of Seoul! We had reserved all our tickets online… but my friend who was staying with me suddenly starting testing positive on the home test that day. I had started to have a cough the day before, so I was concerned that I had caught it from her. Right before we left, my friend took another home test and it said negative, so we still decided to go on our trip; we decided to be very careful and limit our exposure around other people.
We met our friend at the station and traveled the few hours by KTX to Gangneung. Once there, we grabbed a quick bite at a kalguksu restaurant before heading to a cafe that my friend had found online.
The cafe, Warp Warp, was a modern take on the traditional Korean hanok houses. My friend was cold so I gave him my coat to put over his legs. Lily was joking that I was taking care of my wife well.
Next, we took a taxi to Arte Museum Valley since they were holding a light exhibition there. There were a total of 11 rooms with different themes (waterfall infinite, flower cosmos, beach cloud, garden {gangwon-do & the beauty sculpted by time of nature}, garden light of masterpieces, wave circle, forest, cave, thunder, live sketchbook valley, star raindrops, sun, and the teabar). My favorite exhibits would have to be the thunder one and the garden light of masterpieces. Both garden exhibits were held in the same room; just the first exhibit happened and then the second one subsequently following when it ended. I loved the garden light of masterpieces because it would move through the times of famous paintings along with famous music from each time period. It was truly a top experience in Korea.
We took a taxi to Songjeong Beach and walked down to Anmok Beach. The weather was perfect for a stroll. Brixton found four shells and joked that one was him, one was Chris, one was Lily and one was me. We sent it to Chris since he had already left Korea, and told him we missed him. We went to a cafe and chilled for a bit before grabbing a bite to eat and heading back to Seoul.
Unfortunately, that night Nazeerah got her PCR results back and was positive. My other friend that I had visited the day before also informed me that she had tested positive today too. We decided to get tested the next day… and we were afraid that we would have to be cancelling our flights back to America (they were scheduled for two days later).
