Mid-Autumn Festival in Incheon

My sister, friend, and I wanted to celebrate Chuseok and Mid-Autumn Festival (Chinese) since it falls on the same day. What better way than to go eat Chinese food? Before heading to Chinatown, we took the subway to Songdo Central Park.

When we got there, we were hungry so we stopped and ate tonkatsu and tteokbokki.

We met up with my friend’s friend. He told us about Songdo Central Park and some of the things in Incheon. Super friendly and full of information. The park is loosely modeled after New York’s Central Park. Incheon is really nice because everything looks so modern and since there was more city planning, there is more space between buildings.

After bidding the friend goodbye, we took the bus over to Gaehang-ro. I’ve been to this area the last time I went to Incheon. There are lots of sports shops, cafes, and Sinpo International Market in this area.

Since we had some time before dinner, we walked to Ilgwang Jeongu Lighthouse Cafe to relax. Their desserts were so good. The lemonade was way too sour for me though. The interior design of the cafe was so pretty and had many Insta-worthy spots to take photos.

When it was closer to dinnertime, we walked the half an hour to Chinatown. The walk over was so pretty. The sun was setting and the temperature was balmy.

In Chinatown we got in line to the huge restaurant called Yeon Gyeong. While we were waiting in line, Lily ran over to the street vendors and bought some mooncakes. What is mid-Autumn festival without mooncakes? Of course, the restaurant was quite pricey so we settled on ordering two dishes. They both tasted amazing; not authentic-tasting, but still quite good.

We climbed up to the huge gate and ate our mooncakes there. Lily had bought matcha, red bean, and taro flavored mooncakes. They were also not super authentic, but it was nice to finally eat mooncakes.

It was great getting to celebrate mid-autumn festival on Chuseok day. On Friday, I had gotten to celebrate Chuseok at my workplace by eating songpyeon (a rice cake filled with nuts and sugary syrup). A great end to the Chuseok vacation!
