Spring at Wooyi Stream

In the northern area of Seoul is an area called Gangbuk-gu. In this area, there is a stream called Wooyi Stream (우이천). Residents flock to this stream to exercise and spend time with friends and family. Common sights to see there are people dancing in groups to music, bikers, people using the outdoor gym equipment, runners, walkers, etc. It is an area that teems with citizens at all hours of the day. It gets especially busy during springtime when the cherry blossoms are in season.

I got to the stream in the afternoon and walked along the stream just enjoying the view of the trees and also the backdrop of the mountains. As the sun gradually set, the lights on the boardwalk got switched on, and that’s when the “magical” night viewing began. The petals were slowly falling down while we were meandering along, and it felt otherworldly. It is a nice area to go because it doesn’t get as crowded as the super popular areas like Yeouido and Seokchon Lake.
