Two Days in Suncheon

I was so pleasantly surprised in Suncheon. I arrived at 11 am, and had until 4 pm before I could check into my hotel. I tried going to Like and Dislike cafe, but it was unexpectedly closed. I wandered down the street and came upon Cafe Romantico. It was very nice, and I had a lovely omija ade, and chocolate pound cake.

After hurriedly checking into my hotel, I took a taxi to Waon Beach where the mudflats are located. It was very peaceful there, with very little tourists.

When I got back from the mudflats it was already dark, so I just went back home to relax and regain energy for the next day.

The next day, it was rainy the entire time I was out and about. I stepped in quite a few puddles, so my feet were wet the whole time. Quite an experience trying to juggle holding my umbrella and taking photos with my camera! I headed over to the Suncheon Drama Film Set. Apparently many dramas have been filmed there. It consists of three different time periods; 1960s downtown Suncheon, 1970s Bongcheondong Daldongnae Seoul, and 1980s Seoul outskirts.

The second place I went was Suncheon Bay Wetland Reserve. It is a saltwater reserve which is home to over a hundred species. It was so calming to be there. There is a mountain trail that I wanted to hike up to overlook the reserve, but I ended up not doing it because it was consistently raining and it was closed.

After finishing, I grabbed a quick bite to eat at Angel-in-us cafe since it was right across the road from the entrance. From there, I headed over to Suncheon Bay National Gardens. I entered from the east gate. I spent over two hours there, and I only covered a small portion of the place. It was awesome even though it was winter. I can't imagine how pretty it would be with everything in bloom and green. There is a lot of symbolism put into the lake garden. There are also gardens with country themes, including China, Japan, Thailand, Turkey, France, etc. There was also a whole other portion across the river that I never got to explore. I definitely want to come back later this year.

I had planned on going to a cafe, but I was soaking wet and exhausted so I just headed back to my room to rest.
